Chairman of FIBC
Dr Mohan Kaul is an internationally recognised leader in trade, investment, and international economic relations, with a career spanning more than three decades dedicated to promoting trade, integrating emerging markets, and facilitating public–private partnerships.
He was the first Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Commonwealth Business Council (CBC), following its creation by Commonwealth Heads of Government in 1997, a position he held until 2012. In this role, he helped establish the Commonwealth Business Forum as one of the leading global platforms bringing together governments and businesses to stimulate trade and investment.
Dr Kaul has extensive experience as a public policy adviser and economic development specialist. He has led high-level initiatives aimed at strengthening investment climates, promoting good governance, facilitating market access, and encouraging public–private partnerships worldwide.
His career also includes significant academic and advisory roles: he served as Professor and later Dean at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad, held advisory positions with international organisations, and sat on various boards, including those of financial institutions and international business forums.
Role within FIBC
As Chairman of the France–India Business Council, Dr Kaul brings to FIBC a strategic vision grounded in a deep understanding of global trade dynamics and relations between developed and emerging markets. His expertise enables FIBC to structure high-level dialogue platforms, connect public and private decision-makers, and support the implementation of concrete bilateral projects between France and India.
His role includes:

strengthening relations with key institutions and economic stakeholders,

facilitating bilateral dialogues on priority sectoral themes,

representing FIBC in international forums.
